Chorley Circle's Lake District break

In early October several Brothers and ladies of Chorley Circle, joined by Ted and Janis Donnelly from Longridge Circle and Adrian and Susan Crook from Lytham St Anns Circle, spent an enjoyable time in the beautiful and scenic Lake District, staying at The Ravenstone Manor Hotel near Bassenthwaite for 3 nights.

Circle President Michael Saulet and his wife, Diana, organised a tour of The Lakes Whisky Distillery, home of the ‘World’s Best Single Malt 2022’ followed, of course, by samples of the produce. They also arranged lunch at Bassenthwaite Lake Station, in the dining car of the ‘Orient Express’ – in reality a mock-up produced for the 2017 film ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, complete with locomotive and 3 coaches, and very realistic. We were joined for lunch by two Westmorland Brothers and their wives, Paul and Josie Bates, and Eddie and Pat Payne.

There was free time for those wanting to walk, drive, or visit local attractions and towns such as Keswick, Carlisle, and Gretna.

The stay was ‘rounded off’ on the final evening with an after-dinner quiz – which Michael had compiled, and presented prizes to the winners.

Thanks are due to Chorley Circle President Michael Saulet and his wife Diana for organising an event enjoyed, without exception, by all who attended.
