Shared memories of Pauline Critchley 1952-2023

Chorley Circle and Province 10 were totally shocked when they heard the sad news that Pauline had died after a short stay in St. Catherine’s Hospice following her diagnosis of cancer whilst in Royal Preston. Her care at St. Catherine’s by all the staff was exemplary in their dedication to providing total care to alleviate the pain and suffering that Pauline endured. This care brought considerable succour to her loving husband Bill and their children Mark and Mathew and their entire family.

Within her family Pauline was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and sister-in-law who brought great joy and laughter to her many friends.

To remember the wonderful care given by St. Catherine’s Bill and his family decided that he would use his President’s Charity to raise money for the dedicated work undertaken by our local hospice. The money collected after the Requiem Mass for Pauline at St. Gregory’s would be added to the Memories and Moonlight sponsored walk undertaken by the Critchley family and some friends on June 3rd . Bill and Pauline’s younger son, Mathew, set up a Just Giving page in which friends could donate and the money raised in this way would be matched funded by Astra Vehicle Technologies, the company owned by Bill and John Chadderton.

So far £4,409.50 has been raised. Mathew’s just giving page raised £1,857.00 and the same amount was donated by A.V.T. An element of the money raised will be Gift Aided to further increase the total for St. Catherine’s and during the remainder of this year other efforts will be organised to raise funds for this most worthy of causes.

Bill and his family have been overwhelmed by the support and assistance they have received, all in the memory of a certain lady called Pauline, who always wanted you to “Play nice.”
